My son (15 years old), diagnosed with Stage IIIb Melanoma April 2007 and is just finishing the 20 infusion Interferon treatments and starts next week the 11 months, Interferon injections.

Does anyone know of a teenager who has gone through this?

Thanks for any information you can provide...

My son was a little older he was 26.  Younger people can handle it better than older individuals.  I assume he will give himself the injections?  Watch out for taste, as you will have an aluminum taste.  My son put a lot of spicy seasonings on food to help.  Peppermint patties also helped, and you can by at a speciality drug store toothpaste to help.

What area did you son's melanoma first appear?

He had a mole removed 5 years ago (3 times to be sure we had a clear base line, it showed only "atypical" at that time) then it mestatized in same side of his face with a lump that appeared behind his ear in the lymphnodes.

We just started his first of 48 weeks of injections last night.

Thanks for the taste hints...

I think you should go on the Melanoma Patient Information Page.  There are plenty of mothers of children with melanoma.  It is easy and quick getting responses.  Just minutes!

Gook Luck to you and your son
