interferon is still the only FDA approved adjuvant treatment for stage 3 melanoma. Did she have surgery already? Normally this would be daily for 1 month and then SQ 3 x /week for 11 months. Interferon can reduce recurrance by 10-15%. Some might say the benefit of interferon does not outweigh the risk. That should be up to the patient. One thing is clear....you do NOT want the MM to recur.
Hi
Thankyou for replying. She has had surgury a number of times. first the melanoma, then the surrounding area, then the sentinal node and lastly the glands under her arm. these were clear. yes she has to have interferon intervenously for a month then injections for 48 weeks. She has accepted it all, I am not sure myself whether its all worth it!!! More time and money invested in diet and relaxation would be the route I would take myself. However I respect her decision, and I know anything she decides to do she does with great spirit and determination, please God iot will be worth it!!! M
