I had an abnormal pap for the first time in my life. It came back as a CIN3 - High Grade. I did a colposcope and my dr said the appearance of my cervix matches the pap result, severe dysplasia. However, the biopsy results did NOT match that. Those indicated the Atypical Squamous Cells.
Has anyone else had this happen where the results really don't match?
My dr. is suggesting the LEEP procedure to be safe.
I didn't have the exact same experience but I had a pap smear and colposcopy with different results. The pap smear was done at my regular Doc's office, but I had dark lesions on my cervix (easy to see since I have a prolapsed uterus). Anyway, she sent me to an OB/GYN the same day (lucky to get in as a new patient). That Doc did a colposcopy. The pap came back normal. The colposcopy came back w/ moderate dysplaysia. If they had not done them same day, I wouldn't have known. They did LEEP procedure (to remove lesions & biopsy) this week & I'm still waiting on results.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting is that if/when you have the LEEP, you need to REST. I did not know I was supposed to (Doc said to take it easy that day & next). I only had minor spotting those 2 days. When I called him 5 days later and said that I was having more and more discharge each day and that it smelled, the nurse asked if I'd been taking it easy & resting a lot. I said I'd resumed my normal activities, but nothing unusual. Anyway, I now have a bad infection, feel awfull all over & tired. So, read the postings here on Leep recovery (some are old, but you can get to them by googling leep procedure + recovery). Good Luck to You.
BTW - has anyone w/ a prolapsed uterus had this procedure? (Sorry this is so long)
