Hi, I Just had my first Coloscopy and Biopsy yesterday and I get the results back on Thursday.  My Dr. Said that I might have to have the LEEP Procedure... I'm so scared even though I don't know anything yet.  My Fiance was with me during the biopsy and I don't know how I would get through this without him.  We both want children after we get married and I asked my Dr. about conceiving and becoming pregnant in the future after having the LEEP Procedure and he said that after ONE I should be ok, but if I have to have numerous LEEPs then my Cervix would be too weak to have children.  Does anyone know of another option that won't be so aggressive?  I'm only 23 years old and I feel like I'm being robbed of my whole future of having a family IF I have to have this procedure.

Thanks for listening I really appreciate it

Hi, I just had the leep procedure done. I was nervously waiting a month to get it done thinking it was going to be this painful procedure. Especially reading all of these articles online, people's stories tend to scare you. I went to my doctor and asked a bunch of questions and all of the nurses were very nice and helped me to calm down. Truthfully it took 5 minutes, and the only discomfort was the insert they put in to open you up-in which if you have had pap smears you know that feeling anyway. I didnt even feel the needle or know it was done haha, and the only other thing i felt was a 5 second cramping. There was no after pain or anything. I took two tylenol to be cautious. Dont worry about it like i did, its NOTHING. Its quick and painless.

Oh and i almost forgot, it should not affect any pregnancies. What they do if they take a good amount out if put in a stitch to hold the babies weight as it gets heavier. My doctor told me pregnancy will be just fine-and you need to consider how many women have this done a day! Hope this helps

I was afraid of the exact same thing. My boyfriend, who has been a tremendous source of support, really put it into perspective for me, and while it was difficult to hear, I've come to terms with it. He said, "I want you more than I want kids. If we can't have kids, then we can't have kids. We can adopt or even get a surrogate if we have to. All I want is for you to be healthy." It's still tough to think about not being able to have kids after more than one LEEP, but the odds are that you won't have to have multiple procedures and you'll be able to have a baby just like everyone else. Good luck!
