Radiation after Whipple?

My mom had the Whipple in December and her incision is not yet healed due to infections and chemo.  Her surgeon can't believe they have not started radiation.  The radiation doctor refuses to start until the incision is totally closed.  Any opinions on this?  Thank you so very much.

I think ideally it should be concurrent chemo/radiation for adjuvant therapy, but lets see what our rad/onc guy says.  Witchdoc?
