My wife has stage IV Melanoma and has gone through surgeries, removal of a 5 Centimeter tumor in the axilary (arm pit) area. She has undergone Interferon, full month, two months of three times a day injections and lesions started to appear. Timeframe May 2006 through Feb 2007. Previous to Interferon she went through radiation. When lesions appeared in Feb 2007, Interferon stopped and went into Interluken II. She received only one cycle of this treatment and it was determined this was not working either.

Now the Doctor has her on Temador at 160mg per day. Her weight is 180#.

My question is have others that have been on Temodar had similar dosages and has radiation been used in conjuction with the Temodar? Also, the tumors continue to increase in size, break open, multiply etc. and we simply do not know our next step.

Have others experienced similar circumstances and have they had surgeries to remove tumors, received radiation etc.

Any comments anyone can provide will be gratefully appreciated.

Husband Jack recently discontinued Temador after three years.  Jack also endured radiation after surgery in 2004; so now in his fourth year, Jack is on meds to prevent seizures.  Jack is soon to be 65 and the key to his survival is to continue to insist on partnering with his docs.  The fight is endless with good days and not-so-good days; but after receiving news in 2004 that he had SIX MONTHS, Jack has proved his doctor to be far from correct in his prediction.  Good luck in your own fight.  Loyce!
