Angiosarcoma - treatment and doctors?

Hello friends,

I am relatively new to this board.

My father was just diagnosed with stage 4 angiosarcoma.  His lung is full of blood, and he has ascites (swelling in the stomach), all as a result of metastases.  His cancer started 3 years ago with massive bleeding in his hip, and he spent 18 months in the hospital during this period, but if you can believe it, he wasn't diagnosed correctly until just now, so he only just began his chemo treatment.

They haven't given him good odds of living over a year, but my dad is a fighter and I know he'll do everything he can to live.

I was wondering if anyone here has advice on handling this cancer successfully from any angle.  We're willing to try alternative medicine, clinical trials, you name it.  I figure, hit it with every bat we have.

I'd be grateful for suggestions on doctors or treatments, or anything at all that has worked for you

And I wish you good luck in your surviving this rare aggressive cancer!

Warmly,

Lauren

Hopefully the chemo will have an effect.  He is not curable with Stage IV.

Radiation can be used for local/locoregional problems and angiosarcoma responds better than other sarcomas.

My father has Stage 4, Angiosarcoma, and is receiving treatment from Sloane-Kettering of NYC with experimental drug made by BAYER.  Please check it out!  It has helped to 'stabilize' the cancer.  It has not gotten better, but has not gotten worse.

I recently found out that my aunt has the same thing.  How is your dad doing?   I have been looking at natural and healing foods.  What do you think?  She is at stage IV.  She was treated with chemo a couple of days ago and we are not sure what to expect.  Any suggestions?  Anyone please feel free to respond.

May Dad's Angiosarcoma was treated for over 18 months with the experimental drug by BAYER called Serafim or Seraphim. It has seemed to have, for the first 18+ mos, "stopped" the cancer from increasing. He is Stage IV & was diagnosed at Stage 4. I would contact Sloane-Kettering for the BEST rec'd. Also, my Dad is able to talk to you over the phone @ his exact tx plan. He is a fighter & has a great outlook! Pls keep me posted on any & all Angiosarcoma news!

Greetings,

Thank you for the information you have already provided! I have a very dear friend that has angiosarcoma, first on his scalp, and now in his lungs. I am trying to help him find more information on what has been helping your dad.

Is your dad part of a clinical test? Do you know what the exact name of the drug is? We have called Sloane-Kettering, and they don't seem to be familiar with Serafim or Seraphim.

My friend's wife is a Physician's Assistant...is there a chance she could talk with your dad.

Thank you so much for your help!
