Let's Fight Pancreatic Cancer Together

Hi Everyone once again...

It just devestates me to come here every week and find more and more people going through what I have just experienced.  Some of you may remember my name as I posted messages and questions as my dad was diagnosed and right through to the end.  Just to give a brief intro to those that don't, here is the story:

March 2007 - Dad went into hospital for what seemed like gallbladder problems.  He had lost weight already but we weren't concernced.  They founds lumps on this liver.  Through further testing they found it was pancreatic cancer that had spread.  He was then diagnosed with Stage IV PC.  He couldn't eat because the morphine was making him constipated and severly in pain.

April 2007 - My dad went into Pallative care to figure out his issues with his weight.  We met Dr. Kline (an angel undercover).  He seemed like the first doctor who cared.  We were told 6-12 weeks... but they figured out his stomach problems and switched his meds and dad started to eat again.  We celebrated my 22nd birthday in Pallative care, but we were all together.

May 2007- My dad had two good weeks at home of sitting out on the deck, going back to our home town, puttering in the garage.  Then he just said that "he's done everything he needed to do" and he went downhill.  He went to his last chemo session before he was to have a week off, two days later he went back into Pallative Care.  We were told he was to have 1-2 days left a week at the most. Nine days later Dad passed away on June 1st.

I promised him that I would do whatever I could so people won't have to go through this.  I may be young but I vow to keep fighting this for all you people and try and make your lives better and happier.  I've recently up with PANCAN's Team Hope and am trying to raise money to further research on PC.  I will be running a marathon in October in Toronto in honor of my dad.  This is just a start of my involvment with PANCAN, but I need all your help.

I'm not one to ask for money but this I just have to.  I want to make a difference.  I want to help all you and your families.  So please log on and pledge any amount and help further research as well.  We need to come together and let everyone else in the world know how deadly this disease is and make them aware that they need to start finding cures, early detection, anything that will give us something.  Feel free to sign up and we can run this together... If you are signing up send me a message and we will keep in contact through our progress and everything.  I've listed the instructions below. Thank you everyone for all your time and support.  Please help eachother out!  Take care and love you all!

Hello fightinghard, I have just undergone surgery which removed the tumor, tail end of the pancreas and the spleen.  Thankfully I have an excellent doctor and he has taken care of me very well.  I just found out from the pathology reports that the lymph nodes came back negative for cancer.  I am interested in what you are doing and tried to click the website but it tells me that the website is inactive now.  I have a flood of emotions going on right now and am looking for something.  Although we are hoping that I will not have to do chemo and that this has "Cured" me by removing the tumor and infected area, this is just such a scary disease and I thought after reading your post that maybe this is something for me to do also.  Please let me know about what you are up to.  Thanks
