My wife was recently diagnosed with ocular melanoma metastases to liver. Her cancer is so advanced that we must act immediately. So a chemoembolization is scheduled this wednesday at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Our insurance is Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal. We are located in MD.
They took our insurance information and did not ask us a thing about our financial condition which is dismal. There is no way for us to pay for this procedure.
I have neurolyme since 1998 and am now disabled. I have witnessed first hand the abysmal state of health care fostered in part by insurance companies.
BTW u might think of filing for bankruptcy. If you do, make sure it is done well before October, 2005 because of the punitive measures adopted in the new bankruptcy laws.
Have hope! Not every hospital or caregiver is concerned about your income and balance sheet and will provide good treatment. You just have to find them, if u haven't already.
Secondly, there is a way out of your financial morasse called bankruptcy.
Always sign the form that says u are financially responsible for all services, without any caveats.
