Our battle has been a long one, but now our battle with insurance is becoming one that is taking what joy we have left. We were just told that our insurance would not pay for Chemobolization (my husband has colon cancer with mets to the liver). He has had 3 Chemobolizations performed and one HAC. The HAC was very hard and he says he will not do it again. But back to insurance. After our company paid only 12% on the first three we filed a complaint with the Texas Insurance Commission, now our company has come back with they will not pay anything. Has anyone who has had Chemobolization had any problems with their insurance balking at paying? My husband will be 65 in March so we are hoping the matter will clear up with Medicare.

Dear Madam,

I had liver cancer, and I had chemoembolization four times since last July. My insurance company won't pay for this procedure either.

Have you got any response from someone whose insurance has paid for it? Please let me know. Thanks.

Regards,

Frank

My wife was recently diagnosed with ocular melanoma metastases to liver. Her cancer is so advanced that we must act immediately. So a chemoembolization is scheduled this wednesday at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Our insurance is Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal. We are located in MD.

They took our insurance information and did not ask us a thing about our financial condition which is dismal. There is no way for us to pay for this procedure.

I have neurolyme since 1998 and am now disabled. I have witnessed first hand the abysmal state of health care fostered in part by insurance companies.

BTW u might think of filing for bankruptcy. If you do, make sure it is done well before October, 2005 because of the punitive measures adopted in the new bankruptcy laws.

Have hope! Not every hospital or caregiver is concerned about your income and balance sheet and will provide good treatment. You just have to find them, if u haven't already.

Secondly, there is a way out of your financial morasse called bankruptcy.

Always sign the form that says u are financially responsible for all services, without any caveats.
