Hello,

I just recently joined this site, and already, I've learned a lot.  I am a 28 year old female who was diagnosed with Stage IV Gastric Cancer one year ago.  It started in my stomach and spread to my colon, appendix, and ovaries.  I've been on chemo since August of 2006, so yucky side effects aren't new (unfortunately). However, I do have a quick question to anyone out there who has taken FOLFOX.

I was on FOLFOX from August-December (8 treatments).  Then, I was put on Xeloda pills (6 a day- 2 weeks on, 1 week off) from December-June.  Now, I'm back on FOLFOX and just completed my 3rd treatment 5 days ago.  Even though I've done this before, I seem to be having some new problems this time around.  I'm not sure if it's related to chemo or not- just wanted to hear your experiences.  My main problems are:

*More extreme fatigue- it's been 5 days and I'm still tired

*Problems breathing- I get out of breath just walking to the kitchen or taking a shower

*Bloating feeling in my stomach- feel full and tight even when I haven't eaten

I had these problems during my 1st treatment (6 weeks ago), but not during my second.  The nurse told me to take Gas-X, but that doesn't seem to be helping this time.  Any stories, advice, or comments?

Thank you!

Hello,

i have deep respect for you to  stay with the fight cause i know it can be anything but easy.  i don't much about FOLFOX side affects but my Da who has esophageal cancer (stage 4) just started the FOLFOX program and takes a pack home and then wears that and it supplies him with FolFox.  My Da has gastric spasms because the cancer metasticized into his omentum (fatty tissue layers around the stomach?) and the cancerous tissue down there is falling into his stomach as it dies off.  If you want to shoot messages back and forth, i would Love to chat with you. God Bless and Keep You...One Day at a Time.
