I'm 19 & I had my LEEP July 6th under general anesthia. I had the mucus discharge and the coffee ground discharge (what it looked like to me) but never cramps until yesterday, the are NON STOP and do not let up, sometimes they get worse the more im up and moving around I've take my pain meds and they have done nothing but constipate me, now I'm bleeding, I called my dr and she said this was normal. For those of you who have already been through this when does the discharge go away? I can't have sex or go swimming or sit in a bathtub for a month how long did yall have to wait? Also does anyone know the chances of CIN II being cancer after the LEEP? I'm so scared and can't stop worrying.

My experience with the Leep seems to be a bit worse than what most around here have experienced pain wise.  I felt it.  But I did have the worst cramping which lasted probably two weeks and the watery discharge/bleeding/spotting lasted a month.  I'm going for my second Leep in a week.  ugh.  I got an infection after the first one so that may have made the pain worse.  So make sure if the cramping/pain continues after your followup to see your Dr.  Good luck to you, let us know how you are doing :)   Hang in there!

I did not have any pain after my LEEP, although I did have the gross discharge.  My doc did say that cramping & pain are normal, so I was lucky there.  As far as the discharge/bleeding, I remember reading somewhere that the worst of it comes after a week or so.  I felt like I wore a pad forever!  LEEP on June 19, then discharge/dark brown discharge from the coagulant/blood.  Then my period started on June 27, so it all just kinda mixed in.  I CAN tell you that my first day without having to wear anything was not until July 8, so that was almost 3 weeks of wearing a pad!  I am normally a tampon girl, so I was really hating it.

I was also told to wait on swimming, baths, for a few weeks.  No intercourse for 6 weeks--hubby and I are having to get creative! :o)

Every case is different, but I can tell you that my original colposcopy back in January showed mostly CIN I although I did have a spot with CIN II.  We held off on the LEEP until June when school is out and the results came back as adenocarcinoma in situ (this is CIN III or Stage 0 of cervical cancer depending on what reference you look at).  Either way, I am headed for invasive cancer as the next step.  My doc was floored at the speed with which this progressed.  I do not not want to worry you, but be aware that for some, it moves slow, for others, it may be more aggressive.

I didn't have any pain after my LEEP either. When I woke up from the surgery I was in hell, but after that it was okay. The bleeding and the discharge was nasty, as I am also a tampon girl lol. I couldn't STAND using pads. But yes, every case is different. I had CIN II in december and they apparently removed it, but it's back. I just had my colposcopy 2 weeks ago and I have CIN II and I am going to my pre-op appointment on Wednesday....but keep up on your appointments! Apparently it can come back very quick...

Hello all!  I am new to the boards but have found everyones information to be very helpful for me.  I am going in next week for another LEEP.  I was diagnosed with cervical cancer 6 years ago and fortunately it was remove quickly.  Unfortunately it seems to want to return.  For the past year I have been going through pap tests and colposcopies every two months and nothing is helping.  So we are trying another LEEP.  My husband and I are ready to start a family and this is causing some issues.  Can anyone tell me what kind of effects these procedures have had on their conception?  I have read a lot that it is still possible to conceive, but honestly, is it a testful time?   Any knowledge would be helpful.

I had my leep done 3 weeks ago. NOT ONE CRAMP yet haha i may be lucky with this. I took a bath for the first time like a week and a half after. They told me it was fine at the office so Im all about it. But i also had a smaller piece removed from what my doc told me. The discharge was a watery light pinkish right after the procedure than a light yellow and then i got my period and now the 3rd or 4th week its like more of a faded light brown. Yeah i feel these pads have become a part of me haha. My guess though is if you had been put to sleep for it you had a bigger piece taken out or they cut further in the cervix or higher up.....i was awake for mine just with a little numbing so i didnt feel anything and it was done in 5 minutes. So i guess taking a bath after being hospitalized for it isnt wise but call your doc and ask.

Hi all. I had a LEEP done one week ago. I have not had bleeding or cramping, though had some brownish discharge which is now clear. I started working out again yesterday,  45 min of cardio, light weights and abs and so far so good. I do not think my doctor went too deep though. I had two pieces taken that looked about the size of a quarter and she said they were about 4 mm deep.

What did you have taken out depth wise? I am wondering if this is what triggers the difference in recovery?

hi all,

thought i'd escaped the bleeding... seems like i haven't. I didn't get any discharge (which was happy about considering had had so much with the punch biopsy earlier). 2nd week in i started workin gout at the gym (light nothing too strenuous) and have since started bleeding non-stop (up to my 4th week now, when it was supposedly ok for me to resume intercourse with my bf - damnit! lol).

is this normal? or do you think  i may have opened the wound up? the blood (sounds gross eh?) isn't brown like the descriptions some have u have posted, but bright red.... just wondering whether anyone had a similar experience? or whether i need to get in touch with my gyno again...

 thanks

jen

I had my LEEP done 2 weeks ago today.  I also thought I escaped the bleeding but I had the blackish discharge for the first 2-3 days after the procedure and have been bleeding ever since.  I guess that is normal, as long as its not "heavy" bleeding.  I am also getting annoyed with wearing pads cuz I have gotten the depo shot for the past 5 years and haven't had a period since, so this is awful!  I have no cramping or pain just concerned about the bleeding and when it is going to stop.  So, hang in there.  Eventually it HAS TO STOP SOMETIME!!!

Hey....
I had mine done August 29th and its now November 12th and i am still having issues. I had an infection about a week after my procedure and now i have really bad cramping were the infection was. My Drs cant seem to figure anything out or why i have this pain. I been through many ultra sounds to see if theres any reason. I have fluid around my right ovaries and that is apparently not suppose to be there. I know that you prolly dont want to hear the horror stories but this stuff happens. I did have sex after the 3 weeks, it hurt but it was worth it and took a bath. I am still discharging stuff everyday and i still have to wear pads and it really suxs. Hope that you get well soon.
