Hello Colleen - or should i say Mrs Alaska:)
most of my immediate family lived in Alaska for extended periods of time, myself included. I'm joan, a caregiver when necessary for my Mom who has metastatic breast cancer for the third time in 11 years (she was 64). She takes essiac tea several times each day (liquid rather than tea leaves). It is part of a compliment of nutritional supplements and megestrol chemo tablets. We monitor everythings effectiveness thru the blood work results, xrays, how she reports feeling, the oncologist's report & any other reports she has from testing. Mom is resilient & her faith in jesus is strong, so we know that has an impact on what works. her supplements include specific brands chosen for their quality & effectiveness.Cold pressed (refrigerated) Flaxseed oil (highest lignans) combined with 1/2 cup cottage cheese 2x a day has also been noted to attack tumor cells, stopping them from multiplying. Conventional medicine is now more accepting of the flaxseed phenomenon. Alpha Lipoic Acid is used to support her immune response to secondary infections, viruses and the digestion of destroyed cancer cells. In theory it is important for immune system to be functioning, as we age we slow in our manufacturing of Alpha Lipoic Acid. Garlic and COQ10 enzyme helps with the after affects of radiation on the heart & lungs.
It's great that you're asking for feedback. I might also suggest a book written by a former nutritionist from the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I've misplaced my copy, so I don't have the name, but it would be something like "beating cancer through nutrition". It was written either in 1999 or between then and 2003. Good luck, be strong and God bless.
