I have just been prescribed Megace in pill form. My hysterectomy turned up an endometrial stromal sarcoma. Don't yet know if cancer has spread anywhere. Anyone else have the same scenario? What effect does the Megace have on your system?

I too have ESS, just found out.  Doc wants to put me on megace and take out my overies.  Not too sure about either. I did have a hysterectomy thats when they found out I had ESS.  The side effects of not having overies and then the megace scares me!  Please share on how you feel on megace. Anyone out there still have their overies?

My mom has stage IV endometrial cancer, adenocarcinoma, mets to lungs and bones. She tried 2 cycles of carbo/taxol but it didn't help much. She has been on megace since mid April and her scans in June and again at the beginning of Aug show the cancer is decreasing, especially in the lungs. We are so happy about these results. The side effect is weight gain, and my mom has gained a little weight. She also noticed some shortness of breathe at times since beginning the megace. Otherwise, we are happy this drug is shrinking and controlling the cancer.

My Mom was prescribed megace after lung surgery to increase her appetite. It seems to be working well for her. However she only weighs 80-85lbs. So we want her to gain weight. Otherwise I don't know much about it. Had no idea until reading this that it can shrink cancer.
