Hi. I dont really know why im here - i mean i know why im here and i cant believe i am here. I have a partner who has just been diagnosed with urachial cancer and we are waiting for surgery. I had no idea how hard the wait and journey thus far was going to be. I cant seem to get the word out of my mind and every little cough, ache or pain he has sets me into a tailspin. I feel utterly helpless in this fight and crying seems to be the only thing i do.  Its day 10 since we were told. I have read messages on here and find that they do give me hope and strength to get me to where we would all like to be. Thank you Pauline T

Hi pauline   sorry to hear of your partner diagnoses. I too have urachal cancer, it has been almost a year since I was diagnosed and I have been through surguries and now I am on chemo. I hope you are going to big cancer center hosptial, I know that would have made a big difference in my treatment. Surgery is the best and is your best bet for a cure.

I hope to hear how you are doing and how things went. I want to help in anyway I can. So if you have any questions or just need someone who been through this.

Chrisitine

I was diagnosed with urachal cancer in 2006.  I had half of my bladder removed, radiation and chemo.  I am so worried about a recurrence!  Any hope you can give would be appreciated.  Tammy

Hi tammy

I guess we are all looking for a little hope. Please tell me your story!

I have had two surgeries and I am currently on chemo that is keeping the cancer stable. I have been on chemo for 10 months and I have tried two different drugs. But i have never had radiation, doc's said no!!

Hello,  How long ago were you diagnosed?  What type of chemo are you on, and how do you feel on it?  I am 48, and finished my chemo in June.  I guess I just want to hear that there are survivors out there!!!

Just found your message, sorry!!

I was diagnosed sept. 2006 and have had 2 operations and I am 36 with 3 boys. I have been on chemo since last march. Still trying to find something that works. But you have to count for the size of your tumor that you had. Mine was 7 cm. Surgery is your best option for a cure.

I first tried cisplatin and gemcitbine for 3 cycles CT scan showed cancer was growing. Second drugs were taxol and carboplatin with 3 cycles just got CT scans back on Jan. 10 and cancer has grown some more. They just offered me a phase one clinical trial and the drugs that I get are capecitabine and AZD2171 in a pill which is great!!!

how are you doing now? let me know

Hi,

I just read your posting about you having urachial cancer. I know how imporant it is to hear from those that have walked that path before you. I too was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in a urachial tumor in May 2005 The tumor fed into the top of my bladder and cancer cells were detected on the dome of my bladder. I had surgery to remove the tumor and 1/3 of my bladder. Pathology revealed that there was a suspicious area still on the dome of my bladder so I was given 38 days of radiation treatments while taking continuous 24 hr. dosing of chemo. I then had 2 wks of rest and then 12 treatments of chemo cocktail administered every other week.  The last part of radiation treatment was gruling. After my 9th chemo treatment my blood counts were very bad and I experienced severe GI bleeding. I was hospitalized twice and had to be transfused with platlets and whole blood. I did not complete the last 3 chemo treatments. My doctor said that my body could not take any more. I was so scared and discouraged. I felt that my body was betraying me once again. As weeks passed and I began to gain my strenght back I began to experience patterns of pain when I ate with a feeling of being full very quickly, followed by nausea, vomiting and several days in bed on pain meds. Many tests and almost a year later they discovered the radiation treatment had damaged a section of my small intestines and had caused a partial blockage. I had surgery to remove the damage and after a bout with post surgery infections I have recovered. My CT scans have all been clear and I am praising the Lord. I just want to encourage you to keep you chin up and if I can be of any help please contact me. My email is
