My 70 yr.old husband has been diagnosed with prostate cancer that is in the bones & lymph nodes. We are in total shock since he has had PSA & DRE since he was 20 yrs. old. Six months ago-PSA 4.09- the Dr. said he felt a little hardness that could be cancer, he wanted to wait 6 mo. and check again-well, 6mo. later he ordered the biopsy-took 8 pieces--when the Dr.spoke to me after the biopsy--he said he would be greatly surprised if there was any cancer. the next week we got the news that 4 pieces showed cancer & 4. did not-Dr ordered Hormone Therapy . Still hopeful we thought--good we will get the surgery & radiation & he would be fine. Dr. ordered CT & Bone scans. Another week went by--Stage 4--Gleason 6. Is there any treatment that anyone can give me the would prolong his life.We have been married for 45 yrs. ---I can't think of life without him--please help .Thanks, Linda

Hi,

I have done much sifting through websites and have come up with what I feel are the best, and offer some hope.

Look up: hyperthermia, www.cancercure.com  www.annieappleseed.com www.alternative-cancer.net www.hopeforcancer.com www.cancure.org     www.bluegrass.net www.cancerfightingstrategies.com

My husband has mets to the liver, so I have not done much research for mets to the bone.

I would look into the following diets.

Johanna Bugwig cottage cheese and flax seed oil, the Gerson therapy diet, and One cure for cancer a pancreatic enzyme protocol

Hospitals that we are considering going to are:  Oasis of Hope,  Hufland Klinik

Supplements to look into are:  hydrazine sulfate, this will really stop the weight loss and is a must, laetrile, AHCC, Bindweed, Beta Glucan 1 3 6, LDN,  glyconutrients (aloe vera juice), IP-6, pancreatic enzymes to eat the protein covering off of the cancer, cesium chloride.

Zeolite and fucoidan seem good, but they are too expensive.  I also really like reading about immunology on Keep Hope Alive, which is primarily for persons with HIV, but they have a lot of info for cancer too if you do a search.

I hope this helps and your husband will be in my prayers tonight.

Lynette

Linda......I posted the following message on this board some months ago. Since I didn't want to take up valuable space repeating it I tried to find it in the archives so that I could direct you to it but couldn't find it. Here it is once more, and I'd just like to add that this friend continues in full recovery with clear scans seven months later. ______________________________________________________________ I am posting this story because it truly appears to be a miraculous result of a few weeks of non traditional treatments for terminal prostate cancer, a shift in intention and/or perhaps even Divine Intervention. A friend of mine was told in early December 2006 by oncologists that he would not survive to see Christmas. His wife who is a nurse, saw all of his scans and tests and understood she could soon be arranging for palliative care and making funeral arrangements. His cancer had spread throughout his body into most organs and bones and his lungs were so full he could hardly draw a breath. He was given steroids for pain control. After a few days of despair he decided to go ice fishing which is one of his great passions and something happened to change his mind set and he decided to fight. He made arrangements to take natural treatments at a complementary medical clinic nearby. He had about 12 weeks of weekly Intravenous Vitamin C/ Lipoic Acid infusions along with a 21 day course of daily injections of 714X. He did take one injection of Lupron at the beginning of these treatments. Today he has no symptoms of dis ease. He feels strong and healthy, takes no pain meds, has resumed all daily activities and his scans reflect this amazing change in his health. The oncologists who did his scans for him told him he should just keep up what he is doing. My understanding is that there are no side effects to these treatments other than a possible one to the high dose Vit.C if one has had a previous problem with kidney stones. I hope this message is helpful and hopeful to others and if anyone would like more information please feel free to contact me. Blessings Shemay

If he has the disease in his bones and it is a gleason 6 then it is not cureable.  However, since it is low to moderate grade there is a good chance the ADT/hormonal therapy will put it in remission for a significant amount of time, sometimes for years, with very acceptable side effects in most cases. If when that fails there are other possibilities for slowing it down

I would have the case reviewed and rule out another primary as well since Gleason 6, low PSA and only 4 positive biopsies , for him to have Metastatic disease is relatively rare with those findings.  Not impossible though.

I agree with Witchdoctor's view: It's possible that hormone treatment could be effective for a lengthy period.

How well hormone therapy works, how long it keeps working for and how well any side effects are tolerated varies a lot, depending on the individual.

It's believed that side effects can be reduced   by medication amendment , lifestyle changes, diet and keeping active.

For someone undertaking hormone treatment, I always suggest reading the book by Dr Charles Myers which has a lot of very good information, suggested diet and supplements,  He also has some case studies, and instances where additional treatment is considered worthwhile.

I'd get a second opinion regarding the Gleason score. Either Bostwick, Epstein or Bonkhoff (Germany). Also, I'd strongly consider not just buying Dr. Snuffy Myers' book but contact him (or Stephen Strum or Mark Scholz) and spend a few bucks getting some top notch consulting from a real expert in prostate cancer. Also, an easy thing to do is change his diet to focus on fresh veggies and whole grains. Do a search of Dr. Gordon Saxe and find the paper that he published about a year ago. He has reported remarkable results by prostate cancer patients who underwent significant diet and lifestyle changes. Of course you should also check out some of the clinical trials related to prostate cancer also.

dear worried person, i am 75, have prostate cancer metastised to the bone.9 months in treatment. an orchidectomy, then 6 cycles of chemotherapy.  my wife and i are married 5o years and like you she (and I ) wish to spend better healthier, happier days together.

my psa fell from 4 to 0.03  and i am doing ok. but the metasised cancer in the bone is still there and healing. my doc is confident that it will.

but my family and i took a decision to go to alternative therapy in paralle with the oncologists treatment.

so i am taking 12 apricots a day, an extract tab from the seeds available as b17, or laetrile,or amygdalin, in 500 mg values 5 times a day, and pancreatic enzymes, 6 tabs 3 times a day. i can only say i feel good. others who told me ( 3 people) they took this treatment are FREE of cancer. so i believe them . that is my own personal decision.and i offer you this info, only that you should know of how others are dealing with this condition.

i pray for your husbands getting thru speedily. God bless.Good luck
