I just had a lumpectomy and the lymph nodes removed from underarm area next to that breast.
The Dr. said they removed all the tissue of the breast that had the cancer, but that quite a few of the lymph nodes were cancerous. He was surprised since my tumor was small and he felt was detected early.

I am to have appts. with a Dr. for further tests to see if and where the cancer may have spread and then to schedule chemo and radiation.
What I am not sure of is, since I have cancer in the lymph nodes they removed under my arm, is that considered lymphoma or if the cancer hasn't spread and they kill it with the chemo is it just-cancer in those nodes and not considered lymphoma. There is so much to ask, learn and think about right now.

Just answering this will help me to start understanding.

Thanks,
Nancy in Ohio

Hi my name is Andrea in 2002 I had a double
mastectomy by choice and had cancer in 5 lymph
nodes.

It would be Breast cancer in the lymphnodes not lymphoma. Find out what stage your cancer was and how many nodes were positive then sign up for your course of chemo. I have 8 months chemo and 7 weeks of radiation. Breast cancer can metastisize to other areas that is why chemo is important.

Get a book on helping you through this process so you can be well educated in your treatment options.

I'm still well and healthy it has been 2 years.

Hope you have received the answers to your questions by now.
I had a masectomy last April with 15 lymph nodes cancerous and removed. Then had 2 different chemos and 35 rounds of radiation. Have been told my cancer has come back strong already and am now on Arimidex.
Understand lymphema has to do with the swelling of the arm after the removal of the lymph nodes. I am grateful I have not had that happen.
Right now just daily dealing with the pain (most likely from the medications I am on) and the extreme nausea. One day at a time.
Have you started your chemo? And how are you doing with it? Keep your hope up.

God Bless you.
