Healing/Exercise After Surgery

Subject: healing/exercise after surgery
Date: 07/25/2007
I had half of my colon removed because of a cancerous mass.  The incision is in the belly button area.  I have been exercising since the operation (February 2007).  I am now performing 2 hours of exercise including walking 1.5 hrs, stretching .75 and weight lifting .5.  I am left with a pocket of fat aroung the cut area, about two handsfull of fat.  Here is my question.  someone told me that "if I have been cut, I can forget about flattening my belly since the muscles will not respond normally".  I do 200 slow crunches a day.   Is this person correct???  thanks in advance.  dave
