Gastric Bypass Surgery

I am a breast cancer survivor, coming up on 5 years.  I am about 120 pounds overweight.  My daughter is trying to talk me into gastric bypass.  I have heard all the pros and cons but my concern is as a breast cancer survivor would I be taking a chance of making the cancer spread or is that just an old rumor. "Once they cut you open it spreads all over."
