One thing I did not say in my long posting about Sam was that I basically started his new diet within less than a week of his diagnosis, and then about 2 weeks later we had a uti scare. (It turns out he was peeing in the house, frequently, because his back was really hurting from the arthritis.) Anyway, we went through our second urinalysis (that is after the one that was done at diagnosis), and when the vet called me with the results saying no infection, she also commented, in surprise, that his urine looked better than 2 weeks earlier. She specifically said there were fewer tumor cells being shed and fewer red blood cells (it had been "wall to wall" the first time, in her words). She asked how much arginine I was giving him, seeming to indicate that she thought that might be having some effect.
The supplements we are giving for anti-tumor and anti-metastatic activity are arginine, curcumin and selenium, and I view the low-carb diet as being anti-tumor in that it should be slowing tumor growth by robbing them of energy. For the supplements, no one will recommend dosages, except that my vet said using half a human dose should be safe for my guy who is 50 lbs. If anyone would like a lot more detail on how I came up with dosages, please do a private reply.
I also forgot to mention the first time that his diet also includes 2, 1000 mg. fish oil capsules a day.

My beautiful 9 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback was diagnosed with TTC yesterday. I have been reading your posts and my heart goes out to all of you that are going through this.....I am new at all of the research and found some helpful information here on the boards. Bogey has had what we thought was a UTI for the past few months. After x-ray, ultrasound and then surgery to take a biopsy it was confirmed that she has TTC. It has also gone into her lymph nodes. I am trying to figure out the best course of action here. We will not do surgery since it's already in the lymph nodes. The vet told me the prognosis was poor but is going to consult an oncologist and another doctor in the practice. I am not sure how long she has left but will try my best to make it comfortable. She is very happy and you would never know she was sick. She does pee a lot when she is out and wakes me up once a night to go out. I am sick and heartbroken. I have two young boys (8 and 5) that will be devastated. I have seen different posts on Graviola and staying away from Carbs and homemade meals. All of these are doable...Just wanted some feedback to see what works and what doesn't. Thanks so much for your support. I'm so glad I found this board..
