Tarceva and Gemzar

I have recently been diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer. I have started taking Tarceva 100mg (1 a day) plus once a week IV of Gemzar (not sure of doseage). I broke out with a rash on my legs and arms which did not seem to bother me too much. when I called the Dr's office the chemo nurse said this was a normal reaction and it means the Tarceva is working, however, when I went in to get my weekly IV they took a look at the rash and said I should stop taking the Tarceva for a few days. After 24 hrs. the rash started receding and I'm back on the Tarceva again. My question is, is this a side effect of Tarceva or the Gemzar?.

My brother got a rash (we believe) from IV Gemzar just a week ago. He used Aveeno anti-itch lotion and it helped A LOT. Picked it up at our local CVS store. Hope that helps! Take care. Angie

Ths is definitely a side effect of Tarceva.  Its a good sign that  the Tarceva is working.  Mom had horrible rash and took antibiotics for it.  After the first few months, it subsided.  stick with it
