Tomorrow I go in for the greenfield filter. I am a bit nervous.
Been on lovenox injections for 5 days then I'll go back to coumadin and the injections after the filter till INR is up to theraputic range(then repeat it all for the TT)....My TT surgery is scheduled for the 29th of August...I was wanting to go home to Ohio over the Labor day weekend but I am affraid to travel the 5-1/2 hour drive...The Doctors I asked about it said I just have to worry about bleeding infections and swelling.
My plan is surgery on Wednesday drive back Thursday evening and stay in a camper at a fair thru the weekend....am I stupid....how am I going to feel. Will I feel up to walking around a fair.
How long after the surgery will it take to get results back about the suspicous nodules?
I was dianosis with these nodules in May, we were try'n to get the TSH numbers to get high enough to register...my last blood test showed 0.44.
Hyperthyroid, but w/ weight gain, Am I still going to have the threat of weight gain when I go Hypo? I am so confussed. Will I be able to diet and lose weight or is it no matter what you eat you'll gain weight.
Thank-you for your information.

Before my first surgery in 1995, I too was hyperthyroid but no weight gain. Those we're the days when I could eat everything in sight and not gain a pound. My second surgery was in Aug 2006.
I just finished my RAI in May 2007. Boy, it was awful going hypo. I gained 20 lbs in that one month preparing for RAI. The good thing is I lost those pounds after about a month and feeling "normal" (what ever that is). I'm glad to be on my thyroid meds again.
As for going hypo, it's not a walk in the park. Everyone is different, so it depends on your body how you're going to react. Since I've been through it countless of times I knew what to expect. My body went on a emotional roller coaster. All you have to do is remind yourself everyday that "these reactions are only temporary". Seek others for emotional support. A good support system will get you through your tough times. It does get better. The way I look at it, it's just a tiny pill I have to take for the rest of my life. It's not an inconvenience, it becomes your way of life. A wake up call that changes your life to better health. As for exercise, it'll depend on you. When I'm up to it, I'll do yoga. I have a 2 1/2 yr. old son so he's keeping me pretty busy.
As for traveling after your surgery, that depends on you again. I don't recommend driving to Ohio. If your'e the passenger then it should be okay. You may be pretty weak and sore but if you're the passenger then you can rest on the way. Make sure you have enough pillows to keep you comfortable for the long ride. You may be pretty sluggish but it shouldn't be too bad. Just make sure you have pain meds just incase the after effects of surgery kick in. Just take things slow and don't rush your healing time. It takes time so don't push your body too much.
