April 2007, my husband was diagnosed with Melenoma. He acually had melenoma in 1985 found in a mole in his back. The Dr. removed the mole plus surrounding tissue. All was well for 27 yrs; we thought. In April of 2007 it reared it's ugly little head again. He has been diagnosed with legions in his liver, spleen and brain. He has undergone Gamma Knife and CyberKnife to 9 tumors in his brain. The treatment has been hard on him because of where they were found. He has had trouble with his balance so he uses a walker to get around but I have noticed an improvement every day. My husband is also on Temadar and Thalidimide to try to prevent the growth of new and existing tumors. The side affects have been minimal, mainly tired feeling. We have a strong faith in prayers and his family is large and very helpful. He is often stronger about his situation than I am. I am thankful for all of the new Technology and medications that are avilable now. We will continue to do all we can and leave the rest to God.

Hi, your situation sounds very much like mine...my husband had a malignant mel removed from his back in 97..with regular 6m checkups..in Oct 06 he developed a lump under his left arm...turns out that was maliginant mel and it travelled to his brain...since Oct 06 he has had a craniotomy to remove the one tumor, lymph node removal, went down to Bahamas to get a cancer vaccine, full head radiation, and two gamma knife radiation for more tumors in the brain...he now has two spots in his liver...the Dr's (yale and sloan kettering) don't have much more to offer for his brain tumors..they say more surgery or radiation would diminish his quality of life, he is on temador for as long as the disease looks stable in his body and dilantin for seizures.  He is exhausted, blurred vision, loses his words and a very weak from the high levels of decadron he has been on since January but we still are enjoying each other and our 2 1/2 yr old angel girl.  I just don't know what to expect next and we are scared.  Not sure when to get visiting nurses or hospice involved because he is still doing pretty good...take care and my prayers are with you.
