What do I do now?

Hi, I haven't posted in a while, my father was diagnosed March '06, and has recurrent PC post-whipple.  Mets to the liver, and at the site of the tumor near the remaining pancreas.  He did gemcitabine alone, then gemcitabine with Xeloda, then he only received 2 infusions w/ Taxotere, and became terribly ill, and is now on nothing.  He vomits almost daily, isn't working right now and doesn't seem to want to leave his apartment.  His 62nd birthday is Thursday, I hope he feels strong enough to leave his place to celebrate it with me and my husband, sister, etc.  He is so terribly weak, yet sometimes he seems strong in bursts.  Like his old self..  He takes Nexium, Pangestym (with every "meal"), and a script for nausea (I forgot the name), as well as Immodium and a daily dose of Paxil.  Can someone please tell me what is going on with him?

Thank you........

Hi -- maybe instead of expecting your father to go out to eat for his birthday which seems to be a great hardship for him you could take the celebration to him at his apartment????  I am sure that would be a good bithday gift to him just having his family close and trying to make it easier for him.   If he is vomiting he would not want to be out in public I would think. Best wishes anad wish him a happy birthday for me  Toni R. Orange , Ca.

Linda,

I'll bet you sell this garbage, don't you?  You should be ashamed of yourself.  This junk doesn't cure or help PC or anything else!  How can you live with yourself after preying on desperate people looking for any straw to grasp onto as a cure for themselves or their loved ones with PC.  You should not be allowed on these boards.  You should be arrested for fraud.

Thanks for your response, you are so kind.  My father is hanging in there, and we will be together on his birthday.  It is so important to celebrate precious life while we are all here together.  All people in this battle, patients and caregivers need to be strong for each other to keep on fighting.  I hope you and your family and friends stay strong and as healthy as possible.....

Bride 06 - as you said in the message above, sometimes you have to know that all we can really do is show our loved ones how very much we love them, celebrate their life as much as possible while they are still with us, and pray that God has a better place for them.  Now, I'm not exactly religious, I do go to church and all, but when it comes to a time like this, you realize the importance of faith and believing.  My mom is at about the same stage your dad is in.....whipple in 06 and now mets to liver.  Try to understand what to do can drive a person crazy, it does for me anyway.  I'm sure you are already doing this.........just love him as much as you can...and know that we are all here to help each other through this dark time.
