I am flying to Arizona to see my father on August 23 for five days, and it will be the first time I've seen him since Christmas. He has stage IV tongue cancer, and weighs 140 at this point.
At the time we're there he will just be finishing week four of radiation. Also, by that time he will have had four chemo treatments. What can I expect? I know everyone is different, but maybe someone who has been through this can describe week four. I know I am asking for general information, but I can be better prepared if I have some idea of what might be happening then.
Also, it seems I've done so much reading online about cancer that the information is getting all muddled in my head. What does stage IV refer to? Size of the tumor? How fast-growing it is?
I will appreciate any answers.
Thank you so much.
Maggie
