Adeno Carcinom Spread To Brains

 

my mother was diagnosied with adeno carcinoma ( Non small cell lung cancer) 18 months back . She had 6 rounds of carboplatin and gemcite which cured her lung cancer to a great extent . Yesterday we had done CT scan of lungs and brains , and  we found that cancer has spread to brain. It is in 4 to 5 lobes of the brain  She cannto take chemo becaue of her low plattlett counts..  What is the options now?  Is it the end of Life for her ?  how long she will live more ?

I don;t think chemo works all that well for brain mets.  They usually radiate the spots and most of the time it's pretty successful

It all depends on the person and the doctor.  And of course God.  A friend of mine had cancer that spread to her brain. Quickly I might add.  They diagnosed her in Sept. and in March she passed. The lung cancer cleared up but she got weak, took her to the local hospital they shipped her to Tampa, where they drained the fluid on her head, they sent her back here to hospice and she lasted close to 2 weeks.  I am so sorry to hear about your Mom.  May God be with both of you.

 

thanks for your message , by the way my mom is no more .  She just survivied for three months after she was diagnonised with mats in the brain. We had not given her any treatment  as she was weak . She had surivived 18 month after the lung cancer was first diagonoised. The lung cancer had fully cured and she had a good life for 12 months Suddenly in Aug 2007  she had a fit , diagonosis indicated mats spreads in brain in all the lobes.  Diagnoised also showed lung cancer again had spread in both the lungs .We  just took care of her very carefully , giving her symptomatic treatment and she survivied for three more months .  She expired on 31 Oct 2007.
