In June, 2006, my pap smear came back showing that I had HPV, abnormal cells; and I was at a low risk for getting cancer. Over the past year, I have had three pap smears and a biopsy...no signs of cancer, but the results of the pap smears came back with the same results each time. My doctor wants me to have the Leep procedure on September 6, which I think is the best thing to do.
I have read all the messages on the message board, and the responses that individuals have given about the procedure have varied. Luckily, I have a great doctor who I trust explicitly; and I also know that every individual will react differently to the procedure. The biopsy that was performed caused no pain; and in the past six years, I have had two endometrial biopsies which also caused no pain (no anesthetic either time). This procedure will be done in his office, and he has explained what the procedure will involve. But, I would like someone to give me an opinion on the procedure, Would it best for me to have the procedure as an outpatient in the hospital or in the doctor's office? I have noticed that a few people had experienced racing of their hearts as well as shaking. I cannot even have novacaine in my shots to deaden by gums at the dentist. So, the big concern is mainly the shot to numb the area as well as the after effects of the procedure.
Any comment will be greatly appreciated. Debbie
