He's been on GEM for a few months , and it seemed to be helping with symptoms, he's feeling relatively good, got appetite back, and reduced pain, but results of CT show that tumor has grown, and drs. are telling him to stop the treatment.  We are devestated.  Any thoughts?

My Mother has stage III Pancreatic Caner and is undergoing Chemo...if she was told to stop (that there is no chance), I would have her seek a second opinion!! That's just me...

Are you at a leading cancer-prevention hospital/care center? If sot, I would seek one out in or around your area.

GOOD LUCK and keep your head up!!!

tumor growth while on treatment means the treatment isnt working.  No need to continue.  However there should be other options.  What have they discussed with you?

I would get a second opinion, but the other doctor may say the same thing.  If the tumor grew during treatment, then it may not be working.  My heart goes out to you and your family.  Keep us posted

Check out the Mayo Clinic and the trial that they are doing with Rexin G.

The pancreatic cancer patient must have tried Gemcitibine first to be considered in the trial.  It sounds promising.

 Here is the website.  http://clinicaltrials.mayo.edu/clinicaltrialdetails.cfm?tria
