Hi Cindy,
My husband and I went to Moffitt on Thursday, Aug. 30, and did not get the news we were hoping for. We did see Dr. Fishmann and he impressed us greatly. Tom is in good hands between the doctor and god. I know that everything possible will be done. Hang in there and tell Tom he has many caring people on this site pulling for him. Anytime you need to just vent, talk, yell or cry, just do it here. We all can understand the frustration and emotions that goes along with this desease.
My husband has chose to drop the dosage of sutent from 50 mg to 25 mg. He has had a terrible time with side effects. His tumors did not seem to get larger over the past three months while on the 50mg, however, they didn't shrink either. Does Tom have the cancer in his lymph nodes also?
Dr. Fishmann said they have clinical trials going on at this time for RCC but my husband in too advanced to qualify. He suggest that my husband lesson his does of sutent or consider IL-2 or one of the other treatments (toresil, nexvarre, etc..). My husband said he is just tired of being sick and hurting. He also has a rare form of arthritis that is only associated to RCC. They often mistaken it for rheumitoid arthritis.
Didn't mean to babble on, but just wanted to fill you in also, as we have communicated before about Moffitt and Dr. Fishmann.
Good luck to you and Tom. I'll keep you both in my prayers.
