I am so sad to be joining this board ... our almost 10-year old Westie, Zoe Lucille, has recently been diagnosed with this awful disease. Less than 3 weeks into it and already I am noticing signs she must be having bloody urine. And more than once she has turned her back on breakfast when usually she dances and 'talks' excitedly at the sound of the food bowls (we have 3 dogs). Luckily she will at least eat the cottage cheese & flax oil mixture, and she thinks the Piroxicam (peanut butter flavor) is a treat ... fortunately it also seems to help her feel better. It will sound strange but I was glad we had a spring storm and half a foot of snow this weekend for the simple reason that Zoe loves playing and running and rolling in the snow ... and I'm afraid it may be the last time she gets to enjoy it.

My Westie Sassy 9 years old thought she had bladder stones, operated to remove Jan 5,2009 she had cancerwhich they removed as much as they could. Put her on Piroxicam for 3 weeks and sick all the time. Was giving her N-Tense(graviola from Raintree) quit the piroxicam and give her two N-Tense daily. ist mixed in peanut butter,  Second mixed in hamburger meat at night.  She takes 2 K9 Immunity with a K9 factor wafer) daily. Apr 9th no blood, running around yard like she was 1 year old. Xrayed last week and no sign of cancer in lungs or bladder. Cant say it will cure her but she is doing great. Google K9 Immunity and buy on line $55.95 and same for Wafer. www.raintree.com, , K9 Immunity www.petnutrisystem.com.  Graviola is reputed to shrink tumors in humans. Type Graviola in Google. She wqas given about a year by vet on the conventional treatment. At 9 years she was slowing down. With the current suplements she is running like a 1 year old.  Dont know what final outcome will be but she is having a great quality of life now. K9 Immunity is 1 capsule per 10 lbs. Sassy is 20 lbs.She cou9ld swallow the capsules but she takes one by mouth and one in hamburger meat. She is on a meat only type of dog food and treats. You can give the N-tense by mouth also but I just prfer the peanut butter(omega creamy with Flax seed oil, and the hamburger meat as I feel she will absorb it better with food. Jim Daddy of Sassy

Please check my message 4-9-09 re Sassy Westie 9 yrs old and diag with bladder cancer Jan 5 09 and started on prixocam along with N-tense and K9 Immunity and k9 Factor.  Was so sick from the prixocam that we took her off it and contnued the other supplements.  I checked with an online VET re using the supplements and she checked with VET Info service and they said mixing those supplements would not be a problem and that if the prixo-- caused sickness just continue her on the other mentioned supplements. K9 Immunity can cause a great increase in health from what I have read and from what I am seeing in my dog.  The N-Tense(graviola) is reputed to slow and even cure some people cancer and can certainly do no harm.  Read my blog for 4-9-09 re these supplements. Hope this will help you. Dont know what the final outcome will be for Sassy but we at least have hope and she is enjoying a great quality of life.Jim daddy of Sassy .  She is on Wellness dog food which is all meat very little grain and on meat type treats. Eats about a handful of ground hamburger (lean) at night with her supplements on it and a tsp of flax seed oil on the meat.  Morning I mix Omega Flax see oil Peanut butter with the N-Tense, use about 3/4 capsule and give her the rest with a full capsule at nite on the hamburger.  She eats the Pnut butter and mix right off my fingers and licks the floor for any supplemnet powder that falls on the floor. She is really enjoying this new type of diet over the old grain dog food and treats and no meat she use to get. Package the hamburger in packages and freeze and use daily. Lots of luck to you.

I'd like to know how much Graviola (in mg) you were giving your dog.  I have a 10 year old beagle mix and would like to start him on Graviola due to prostate cancer.  He will also be startng piroxicam.

Do you know of any side effects associated with Graviola ?

Thanks

Nancy and my best buddy Boris !

Well Daisy was diagnosed Friday. She has been fighting this UTI 3 xs at least for the past year or so. First I would see blood in the snow in Feb 08, and then treated. Came back treated with Orbax. I just had an incling this past week when I went out to see her urine after she went, and lots of blood. I ran it in to the vet knowing they were going to do an Xray this time. I already knew it was ca. i was mad because I couldn't bring her in that day, as I was going to work. Ibegged the front desk people to just give me one Orbax to give her till morning, but they wouldn't check with the doctor. So one more night with her suffering. I mean her urine was brown/red. Seriously. I know it wouldn't make a huge difference but just after one pill this week her urine was clear. Vet wants to see how the Orbax works for her but SHOULDN"T I go directly to the piroxicam? I will call monday. They told me 3-7 months. I am devastated. I just wish after the second UTI they wouldve got the US done. my OTHER Question is she is only voiding in small amounts. Is this okay? Will the piroxicam help with that. Is it small amounts because the total volume of the bladder is smaller, or is the lumen to the ureters blocked. They couldn't tell if it was blocked. Does anyone have to cath their pups? Oh so many questions, and I am an RN....you would think I would have a clue at least :) :(

This isn't funny but just to add to the fact that they wouldn't check with the doc about the one Orbax pill? When I brought her in the next day, she peed right on the carpet, all bloody and with mucus and clots. I thought if you had gave me the Orbax that would have been clear. Again, I know they can't just give out pills but I give them lots of money each trip out there, they couldve checked with one of the 3 doctors. I am just redirecting my anger and anxiety right now forgive me. Just worried and lost right now. There is now a big anvil hanging over my head. My other beagle has been fighting Congestive Heart Failure so I am just growing me an ulcer. Thanks for the resources here!

I was just wondering how your dog is doing?  My sheltie has this terrible disease.  Wonder if we could exchange notes?

Hello fellow pet lovers... I have a 12 year old TCC schnauzer.  Although we battle the disease, we have found something that has completely stopped the bloody urine.  Yunnan PaiYao is a Chinese herb.

Riley was diagnosed in November 08 with a positive biopsy.  We are using Metronomics chemo.  (Piroxicam, Doxycyl and Cyclophosph)

The only symptoms so far are frequent urinations (Every 1 to 3 hours)  and picky eating habits.

She seems painful at times in her back end.  I can't pinpoint where the pain is.  I am not sure if this due to athritis in her back or if this cancer is causing her pain.  (Anyone else experiencing pain?)

When she is painful, I give her pain med tramadol and a muscle relaxer.

We have good days and not so good days... Happy days and sad days...

I will continue to fight this battle until my fur baby lets me know its time....

Hi:

I am sad to join this board, but thankful to read all the posts & information.

Our almost 11 year old dog, Max (mix of German Shepherd & Lab) has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. We are going to the specialist today for his advice. Can you please tell me about this herb (Yunnan PaiYao) that you mention - what dosage did you give, & in what form (powder, liquid etc).

Thanks

Ranjana

Hi All:

This is about our dog Max, 11 year old German shepherd lab mix, recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. The vet has put him on Rimadyl as an anti inflammatory. Does anyone have any information if this drug is effective & can I combine this with any of the herbal supplements (graviola etc).

 Thanks

Ranjana

As I know the best is piroxicam +herbs (alternative medicine).

My boy Max Monday will have a surgery and the vet will decide if he can remove th e tumor. Yesterday I ordered Graviola and an immune system booster. We are praying and we hope that the Lord will help us.
