I've just been advised to have my leukemia (CLL) treated using "Retuxin" once a week for four weeks.  My doctor says it is to reduce the anemia I have developed as a result of the high white blood cell count.  Has anyone been treated with this "Retuxin" and, if so, have there been any side effects I should consider?

Rituxan can cause some side effects the first time it is infused.  The nurses will watch you VERY closely and the side effects are nornally not too bad.  You might get some  chills or shaking.  The process is slow.  The 2nd treatment will most likely be a breeze.  If during the infusion you feel anything weird just tell your nurse.  You might want to check out a place called CLL Topics and some other forums like www.cllforum.com or  do a google seach on cll forums.  Rituxan can also give you flu like symptoms and chills.  It has been very usefull treating someone i your condition.
