Hi I would just like to thank everyone on this message forum, my mum has recently been diagnosed with LP, she starts chemo tomorrow. This forum has been a great support, reading a chemo regime on here we questioned why Xeloda was not part of her treatment the consultant told us it was not part of hospital policy but we could have this because we mentioned it, so now she doesnt require a picc line and 24hr chemo, which is thanks to this forum. We have also incoporated all the other advice into her life, and any more advice and words of wisdom and hope would be greatly appreciated. We live in Hull in the UK and the little information available can be disheartening, thank you

hi there, can you please tell me more about xeloda? my wife has LP and is in her 12th week of 18 on her chemo. she has a picc line and 24 hr a day chemo.she is making good progress and i understand this is the best way to administer chemo as it is absorbed by the body better than anything else. Is xeloda different? we are also in the U.K  and would love to share any info we can with you. please ask about blood thinning injections as my wife has developed a blood clot on her lungs due to the chemo reigime that they dissovered purely by chance a few weeks ago after a ct scan. This is a dangerous side effect they dont tell you about. She is on fragmin now which is a daily injection i do for her.

our love and best wishes are with you and your family

Hiya we do not know everything at this stage as my mum is only on day 3 of her chemo, but Xeloda (carbetine or similar spelling as its also called) is oral chemo which was part of tutsi's regime on here, it is the same as 5FU (24hr infusion) with same effects do not know anything about blood clots but will ask my mum to ask her oncologist at her next app. Where abouts in UK are you? We were not offered Xeloda because it is not part of our hospitals chemo policy! but once we mentioned it they said we could refuse 5FU and go on to Xeloda. mum is stage four LP and so far seems ok on the regime just tired and weak.

best wishes

Nikki

hi there. thanks for the info. i hope your mum has a good response for the treatment and we wish you all the best. my wife is also stage 4 and is getting a good responseon the ECF treatment plan. it is very hard and she is extremely tired but it is worth the journey we are taking as she was being fed through a tube 3 months ago and now she can eat as normal.

take care

mark and michelle
