Subject: Can we discuss my chemo regime?
Date: 08/24/2007

Actually this is for my father, my hero in life.  Dr wants to put him on Cisplatinum, 5FU, and Taxotere.  My dad will recieve chemo for 1 week in the hospital then go home for 2 weeks, then back at the hospital.  So basically every 1/3 week for 6 months.  He will recieve all 3 chemos at once from what I understand.

Any survivors that can look at this regime and perhaps suggest something else?

Some cliff notes, Dad had 70% of stomach removed, some tumor is still left...a bunch of lymphnodes in surrounding area were affected, so they were removed.  I asked about radiation and the Dr said that my father wouldnt be a candidate for it.

I'm sorry to hear your dad going thru this. MY mom has a similar treatment, she had a palative bypass to her stomach as the cancer had spread to her pancreas. Drs did not recommend radiation but she is in xeloda and something else, goes to the hospital 1 week, off 2 weeks and then was suppose to go for round 2 but the chemo has really taken a toll on her and the doctor recommended stopping it. She need a IV due to the dehydration from all the vomitting and then a blood transfusion as well as her blood levels have dropped danerously low. These have been the worst 2 weeks of her life and I don't know how much more she can take. MY prayers are with you and your family.I hope his chemo goes well.

Hi! Have you had any luck finding out any more info?  I am curious as my Dad is in a similar situation.  We were just told the chemo hasn't been effective enough. My dad was doing a drip, then followed by approx 2 weeks of pills, back to back.  After the 2nd drip, he became jaundiced, so they had to unblock a bioduct.  My dad is such a fighter, but he is so frustrated and tired, and it's only been since Aug that he was diagnosed.  Please let me know if you've found out anything!! Thanks so much.
