Dear All,

I have written many times over the past with information and my treatment of non functioning islet cell carcinoma, I have had successful treatment and now am in remission..but its my turn to ask for help...I have a friend recently diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer of the pancreas as well as large cell..I'm trying to help him with the current treatments available for "large cell"..this type I am unfamiliar with..If anyone out there has large cell and can help me with current treatments and/or clinical trials I'd appreciate hearing from you..

Thanks..

Marcie

Not familiar with Large Cell.  The National Cancer Institue has a online chat with a specialist service that they offer.  If you get on with them they will research for you specialist and clinical trials that are available - they are very helpful.  I just went to a carcinoid cancer awareness network conference and Dr's O'Dorisio, Anthony and Woltering where all there.  They mentioned something about small and large cell and a corilation with neuroendocrine.  They have a wealth of knowledge and contacts so they might be a good place to start.  Best wishes to your friend and thanks for your postings on Islet cell!

Marcie,

My dad has been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas with liver mets. We live in NJ and my dad has seen docs in the NYC, but their only option was chemo. I sent my dad's scans and date to UPMC Liver cancer center to Dr. Geller., They can do chemoembolization of the liver to clear the liver mets.  My dad is in great shape and not feeling ill.  They would like to do this soon while he is still feeling well and healthy.  What treatment did you have?  Please let me know.  Thank you. Tell your friend to contact Dr. Geller at UPMC.  They have some good options.
