Hello All,

I'm starting the the Carac treatment on Sept 3rd for a 2 week course. I got to say I am pretty nervous. I scheduled 2 weeks off work after the first week. I hope that will be enough. I am putting together some small jobs around the house to keep me busy during the time off. (painting...yuk)

My Dr gave me Triamcinolone cream to use along with the Carac. Has anyone used this? Did it help?

I am curious to know how everything went with Tracybird. Was it all worth it?

Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Take care

Hi,

I used 0.5% Carac for four weeks just on my forehead for Actinic Keratosis. I did not use Triamcinolone cream. I did use Vaseline and Aquaphor to help control dryness and itching, after asking my dermatologist if this would be OK. Two weeks seems like a pretty short course of treatment. The studies show that rates of success are higher with four weeks of treatment, but you didn't mention what strength Carac you will be using, or what you are treating, so maybe that makes a difference.

The Carac seems to have worked for me. I had very diffuse actinic keratosis on my forehead and it all seems to be gone now. The redness is still going away, but is has faded quite a bit and I believe it will go away completely over time. It has been about two months since I completed my treatment. So far I believe it was probably worth it. I did a lot of research on the various alternatives before I went with the Carac.

Good luck.

I used Retine and the OBAJI treatment regime for 4 months prior to using Carac on my face.  The Carac response was very fast; fully engaged in a few days and I used the cream twice a day for two weeks.  The third week was tough with lot's of itching but I got through it.  My face was healed by the end of week 4.  What I find startling is the different approaches.  Every doctor uses this cream differently.  I wish they would develop a more standard approach.  It would help us all feel more comfortable.

I am now using Carac on my arms; 2 x a day.  I have used an entire tube in one week.  That is alot of cream. I have three weeks to go, that is 4 tubes.  When treating my face I only used 1 tube.  I am worried about the toxicity and wondering if it is worth the risk.  Does anyone have information about using this product in large doses?

By the way, my face responded wonderfully.  I look 15 years younger; yea!
