I have been wondering how many times one should be nebulizing your trach, nose & mouth and for how long each time.

I know there is a mask that does all three at once cutting the time in half - I just wondered if those who do nebulize would use it.  It's at www.wrighttrachsolutios.com .

Thanks

I now have my second trach, On feeding tube also.  I nebulize in the morning for about 1 hour, if I start to cough I know that I am dry and will use it again. As far as nose and throat, I think I am breathing from my nose but you are not, same for mouth.  I rinse my mouth with water all the time and use my suction to remove the water.  I am unable to swallow.   I sure anyone who reads this will have their own version.  Just  hang in there.

Thanks for your reply Griff.  Instead of nebulizing your mouth you rinse with water and suction all the time, so would it not be easier to nebulize your mouth & nose at the same time as you nebulize your trach?

I gave the web site addy for Wright Trach Solutions and it was wrong, here is the correct addy, www.wrighttrachsolutions.com .

My brother-in-law went through the same thing as you.  He used the prototype of this device and found it kept his mouth and nose moist and reduced the amount of times he had to rinse and suction - as well as reducing the amount of times he had to nebuize.

Prior to using this he had a bleedout due to being so dry (he hated nebulizing). The device kept everything so moist he didn't have a second bleedout.

Like you he was on a feeding tube and unable to swallow as he had SCCH&N Stage IV.
