The report on the effect on cancer risk due to power lines posted under General Cancer News is not very helpful. It doesn't mention the voltage levels or the current levels that have been evaluated. People who have electricity delivered to their homes are within feet of electrical wires at all times; in particular, 120/240 volts comes to the side of all such homes and the feeders running around the neighborhoods have much higher voltages and currents flowing in them. The lines running along roadways are still higher and most of us are within one or two hundred feet of these. How can anyone take the report seriously and react to it in a prudent way?
If the magnetic fields of the wires are the culprit, this is greater when current in the wires is greater irrespective of voltage. If there is some sort of radio-like radiation, then this should be stated.
At this point, I can not take the report seriously enough to worry about it because I can't imagine how to cope with it!
