My doctor told me that I need to put this cream on my lip for two weeks.

I know its going to look like fido's rear end but for how long? and is there anything you can do to reduce the mess that will be my lip?

I have funny feeling I already know the answer.

You are right, this is not going to be any kind of fun.  I don't know if the doc will OK it, but many of us found Aquaphor to be a godsend for this treatment.  I can't see why you couldn't put it on your lips.  If I could have put Carac on my upper lip I would have, to avoid the Mohs procedure.

The other thing I tried was upping my Omega 3 and 6 intake, drinking a ton of water and eating a modified Atkins diet.  Not to lose weight, just to get rid of the refined starches.  Lots of fresh fruits and veggies.  That sounds really lame I know, but my reaction was manageable. 3 weeks on my face and 5 on my chest. Yuk.

If your doctor doesn't talk to you about temporary disability and pain meds - make sure you bring it up.  It's not asking too much of them to have that ready to go, should you need it.  I didn't end up using mine, but it was good to know I could if I needed it.

I used Efudex cream for 21 days 2x day on my face, neck and chest. I was surprised when my lips reacted(upper and lower) but they did. It was not too bad I found I always had a scab on after sleeping which usually fell off while trying to take a drink. This happened every day and did not get better until I stopped the treatment. Lips were dry and tight during this period, my Derm gave me Vaseline mixed with Hydrocortisone cream which I found helped a lot, I applied around 4xs a day 2 hrs after the Efudex treatment, this was the only cream that helped, everything else burnt my skin I could not even stand water, only used a wet washcloth to take the vaseline off before applying Efudex again. This treatment is no walk in the park, but necessary and the alternative does not bear thinking about.
