my dad (who just celebrated his 62nd birthday at the end of july) was diagnosed with stage IV cancer around christmas time of 2006.  he has been on and off of different chemo cocktails for the past 7 months as well as radiation.  he just received his second CAT scan results and once again there is no improvement.  nothing has spread anymore, but nothing has shrunk either.  he is already down to 122 lbs and is using a feeding tube to get his calories and nutrients.  he is definately depressed as he does not want to do anything but sit on the couch and watch tv (which usually means he pays attention for 10 minutes and then naps).  i don't know what else to do to help.  we are thinking about switching doctors/medical centers and see if maybe different doctors will have a better course of treatments.  has anyone seen someone survive after having so many months of resistance to chemo?

i have heard some stories about xeloda...is this a drug we should look into?

So sorry to haer of your Dad mine had EC and my husband also, so I know what you are going thru.

The good news here is that it has not spread even though you say it has not shrunk either my husband was on taxotere and I yhink cistoplan ? but is your Dad not having radiation? That is what got rid of my husbands tumor stage 4 and 4cm, we got asecond opinion and went to M.D.Anderson we had the chemo and radiation done at a hsopital here but they gave them the presciption for it.

My husband was on a feeding tube as the radiationis tuff on the esophagus but it was worth it in the end as he was cancer free for 1 year.it sounds to me like you need a different chem and if pssible radiation, try to seek a second opinion M.D are really good and worth the effort.

my prayers andd healing hugs are with you all. keep me posted, good luck.
