Hi there,

My mom has just finished her 3rd cycle of Sutent.  During this cycle she has developed a fungal infection.  It started under her breasts and is now on her bum and inner thighs.  Has anyone else experienced this issue with the drug and if so, what measures did you take to help with the infection.  She is finding them very painful and would appreciate any advice you can give.

THANKS!

hi,

My mom has done three cycles as well.  And after the 3rd, she got very dry skin around the lower eye lids especially on the right side.

I THINK the doctor told mom it could have been a fungus caused by the sutent causing dryness.  Possibly flakes from her eyebrows irritating the eyes.

I think she should see a Dermatologist.  Thats what we did.  Not at home and can't remember the name of the cream.

It would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about using an antifungal medication, such as Fluconazole (Called Diflucan in the US).  It is specifically for fungal infections and if not contraindicated with Sutent, might be very helpful.  It's a very effective drug.  Good luck with finding help.   GY

We were at her oncologists on Friday and she prescribed that drug.  I am glad to hear that it is an effective drug.  Can't wait to see the results.

Thanks!!
