Need anyones advise on the care of the skin around the feeding tube.

My husbands skin is getting red. I clean it with diluted hydrogen pyroxide and then put neosporin and then cover it with gauze.

I heard apple jice is actually better than water to help get him hydrated?

Have anyof you tried this!

Appreciate any help I can get.

I have a feeding tube  for over 2 years.  Have the same problem with redness.  Dr. perscribed  "Fluocinonide ointment 0.05%) 60 grams Maker is TEVA.  I just typed what is on the tube.  The redness clears up in about a day, if I gets red again I use the ointment.  I also keep dry by using drainage  T sponges.  As for luquids, I have 4 bottles of water a day plus my 4 bottles of Ensure plus.  It is 1400 calories.  I only weigh 125 lbs.

In regard to dehydration, I was told to have a minmum 8 glasses of water a day.  As to apple juice, all I would note is that when they do a pet scan, radioactive sugar is used because cancer is attracted to it.  I have eliminated all sugar and refined flour from my diet.  good luck!
