I recently had a CT scan with contrast looking for pulmonary embolisms. No evidence was found, however, they did find a 7mm nodule in my lungs and a 1.5 cm nodule in my thyroid. I am to have a biopsy on the thyroid nodule in a couple days, but they want to wait three months and do a regular CT scan on my lungs to see if there is any growth before doing a biopsy on the lung nodule, because it is so small.
I have done alot of reading and came across something that said that the odds of a solitary lung nodule being malignant increase significantly if there is a nodule found anywhere else in the body, even if it is benign.
Is this true and how much does it increase the odds? If one is benign, why would it make a difference and make the other more likely to be malignant?
