Do I Have Cancer?

I have been bleeding abnormally for quite some time in between periods and after sex.  I'm 39 with 4 boys.  Went to a new Dr. cuz my 90 yr old one said it was nothing to worry about......upon examination instantly said I may have cancer...I have some polyps and to get an ultrasound.  Did that and got the results.  I have "quite a few" fibroids and my uterine walls are very thick....he wants me to come in for a "talk" then schedule a D&C to have the uterus tested.  Of course he is so busy I can't go until the first of October so now I sit and wait......my thoughts are outrageous.  Do I have cancer?  Could it be just an infection?  Has anyone ever gone through this at my age that did have cancer?  did not, just an infection?  Any stories help anyone could give would be great......thanks!

Wow, I just got back from my Ultrsound today and they said the same thing to me, super thick lining, painful periods beyond belief and she measured a polyp or somthing to have it sized or whatever and said the Dr. would "call me" after looking at the Ultrasound, plus she asked me if my doctor had done a endometrial biopsy or something like that on me, and when I told her no, she said he will more then likely have to do that, she also said even after 15 years she's never seen a lining so thick. And I'm 39 also.  So you and I are now both "waiting".  Please keep me updated!

Well, got my results early on a cancellation.......I have a polyp on my cervix, I have fibroids all in my uterus and my uterine wall measures 12.5cm.  I have to have a cervical polypectomy, Hysteroscopy and D&C.  He will test for cancer.  I don't go in until NOvember 6th!!!!!  More waiting.  I'm staying positive....I just don't know if 12.5 walls is a little bad, or really bad......I know that 8cm is the norm.  Let me know your results and procedures when you find out....good luck!   

Oh bummer that you have to have all that. I'm sorry. I hope otherwise everything turns out okay. I'm still waiting for the doctor to call me back and tell me what he wants to do, etc.  I hope you can get another cancellation appointment and get all your surgerie(s) done sooner.  Please email me at

Hello again, I hope you are doing good so far.  I had my husband (who is an Orthopedic Doctor) call my Gyno about the Ultrasound I had and amazingly he called right back (it always works),  My lining was 12.9cm which is said is very thick also so I have to go in for a D&C and I am going to get Novasure.  I read about it in a magazine and because I don't have Fibroids I can get the Novasure.  He said I have Polyps but that's why they are doing the D&C and the Novasure.  Then he will of course have everything tested.  I can't get mine until the end of the month also.  Talk to you soon.....E
