9/24/07 My 58 yr old sister had a whipple procedure done in june of 07' for bile duct cancer. It was a respectable operable tumor. I've been given mixed messages about the path report with some saying there was some pancreas involvment; others saying not.Since her surgery she says she doesn't have pain except when she starts hacking and dry heaves when she gets up at night. Is this a common recovery symptom. Or is it when she is feeling overwhelmed with anxiety. She is depressed and anxious and uses her pain meds lortab or oxycontin to deal with her anxiety. She is prescribed and takes celexa 40 mg (antidepressant) but i'm concerned the 3 or 4 pills of pain meds is contributing to her immobility, depression, and her not eating well. She is losing weight and she does not take vitamins or any other supplements or enzymes that i have suggested for her. Her iron level is low. I am concerned she will not have the strength to deal with her chemo regime that will be coming up. Should she be talking with a onconlogist., Can anyone professional or not give me some feedback --Message edited by CancerCompass staff. For personal protection, email address removed.
