Hi:)

My grandma just started chemo today.  This is what they started her on:

1st drug they want to use is Paclitaxel (Taxol)
2nd drug is Carboplatin (Paraplatin)

Has anyone else personally or had a family member on this same treatment?  How did they do? Were there many side effects?

She is in great spirits and has not yet been sick.  I just lost my mom to GBM stage 4 and do NOT want to watch my grandma suffer like my mom.  She was diagnosed with grade 4B endometrial cancer.  They have not slated her for radiation.  Is this normal?

 Thanks for any replies.

God Bless you all.

Megan

That course of chemo is identical to the one I just finished, with adenocarcinoma of my endometrial lining. But, I also had radiation done for 4 months, I would question why they aren't using all the tools at their disposal. Did she have seed cells in her abdomen? Did the surgical team check that? Radiation doesn't kill seed cells, really, but chemo does. Radiation is to make sure that any bits left inside die and don't come back. Radiation is brutal, worse than chemo, but worth it.

Oh, and I meant to say - that course, Taxol and Carboplatin - that's totally the usual course of treatment they do with everyone I've seen with certain gynecological cancers. So yeah, it's normal course of action.
