I started on 150 mg of Tarceva Monday Feb 28, and now 8 days later I find have a very unpleasant rash on my face, and neck, and more coming on my arms. Aside from reducing the level of dosage (which I will call my DR about tomorrow) is there any cream or ointment recommended that works! Also, if one stayed on tarceva, does the rash subside after a few ? weeks? I was on Iressa, and the rash was much less, and became almost nothing later.

My Mom has been prescribed this medication also. At the pharmacist desk I ask the question what are the side affects. They are indeed a rash and diareha. The pharamcist told me you can treat the rash as you would treat acne. I have an Uncle who is also on this medication and he put calamine lotion on his rash. Have you tried calling the pharamcist?

Yes... my doctor has prescribed a lotion..clindamycin phosphate 1%, and I have read that benzoyl peroxide 5% (Clearsil) works too. I am trying both now.

My husband was on the 150 mg Tarceva but most recently the dosage was lowered to 100 mg. The results on the CEA dramatically dropped from 6.8 to 3.4 in the past three months of taking the drug, but the facial rash and torso pimple like rash has been extremely uncomfortable for my husband. It "weeps" constantly ... and now that his hair has started coming back, it poses a new problem of sticking in his beard and mustache and how does he shave and not rip off his skin because of the rash. We've tried everything from Epson salt solution, Aquafor ointment, calamine lotion and even aloe gel. We'll try the acne ointment next ... but he is seeking help from a dermatologist.

My wife has lung cancer which has spread to her bones and brain. We have followed the normal path of chemotherapy and whole brain radiation with some good results. Unfortunately the cancer has returned to the lungs and the consultant has placed her on Tarceva which is not yet approved in the UK but is available on a named patient basis. She has developed the rash and we were advised to try Hydrocortizone Cream 1%. This has almost eliminated the rash and may be worth a try. I dont know if it is available in the US but it is a non presciption drug (over the counter) in England. Good luck to you all.

I've been on Tarceva 150 since 3/1 and got the rash about a week into treatment. I was issued Clindamycin 1% by my dr and it seems to alleviate the itching somewhat but i'm looking for something else to supplement that. The instructions are somewhat vague saying to apply it twice daily to the "affected area". For me thats my cheeks, forehead, scalp, behind the ears and neck, chest and shoulders. The rash seems to come and go in severity but it just feels as if its the indicator that Tarceva is working. i don't mind the rash, its the itching that's annoying. Has anyone tried soaps, washes, lotions etc ?? Anything in combination with Clindamycin

My Father has a rash on his face and neck. It bothers him quite a bit. He is taking 150mg. of Tarceva daily. Has anyone found anything to get rid of the rash? Can he expect to have this all the time while taking Tarceva?

Taking 150mg daily of Tarceva since March 1. Rash developed in about 10 days and was pretty bad on my face at first. Weepy pimples but mine has never itched. It is on my neck and the backs of my knees too. Luckily the rash on the face has gotten a lot better and most people don't notice it that much, just looks like I'm a 56 yr old w/acne! The FNP who used to work for a dermatologist had the pharmacy mix up a cream for me, don't know what is in it, but it sure helped hydrate my skin. Still get new pimples daily but not nearly so dry. Helps the splitting tips of my fingers too. Hoping the rash will eventually subside the longer I am on it.

My mom just started using this medication a few days back. She now has an acne-like rash on her face and neck. She will see a dermatologist this week. Was your husband able to find a medication to control the rash? Thank you in advance for any "lessons-learned" you could forward to me. JC.
