Okay, so I'm 14. And about a month and a half to two months ago I found a lump in my pelvic area. So I didn't think anything of it. It felt about the size of a ping pong ball. So about a week later I had a fever of about 102 ish. so I stayed home from school, I had no other symptoms other than that so then the next day (Friday) I told my mother about the lump she tried to get me to see a gyn but they couldn't take me. so the fever went away. I went to the doctor on Monday and he said it was a swollen lymph node. but there was no infection on my legs. So he gave me meds for the pain and the pain went away. then Wednesday I got itchy legs, and red patches all over w/ bumps. then on Thursday I went to the doctor and he didn't know what it was. it was all over my feet and my legs and I asked when my lymph node would go back down in the swelling, he said about a month or so. I got meds for the rash. it went away within about 2 or 3 days so that was good. I've also been losing weight. about 7 ish pounds within this past month. so I typed in all my symptoms and the first thing that came up was non-Hodgkin's lymphoma ... I haven't told my parents or my doctor of the findings. so it's been about a month or 2 with this lymph node so please help. anything will do. maybe advice something. I'm all outa ideas. thank you very much...

Kelly,

Please talk to your mom about this.  You are very young and if something is seriously wrong with you, you can get the medical attention to fight whatever it is you have.  May God give you wisdom to speak to someone about this.  I have an 18 yr old daughter, I would want her to tell me if something like this was going on with her.

Please speak to someone.  Keep in touch

Concerned and in prayer for you.

Aurora

Kelly, Take the information you found to your mother, tell her your concerns and have her make an appointment with your primary care family doctor ASAP to schedule a biopsy procedure with a surgeon.! An M.R.I. and or a PET Scan will detect any suspious lymphnodes and the biopsy of the lymphnode in your pelvic will definetly confirm or deny your fear on whether or not you have a type of lymphoma. You may be symtomatic for a lymphoma. I am in remission right now for a Small B Cell Follicular Lymphoma. The symptons you describe are the same type symptons I complained about and the weight-loss without trying/dieting is also a warning sign. If your doctor treated you with medication and the lump is still present, then it requires further investigation such as the two procedures I mentioned. Just so that you know...Blood Test do not always detect the lymphoma. I complained of the same symptoms you described for years and was always told everything was fine according to the blood test. It was not until I found a lump in my lower right side two years ago that finally confirmed through a simple biopsy I had lymphoma. I have been treated twice for this and just so you know even when I went through treatment my blood work remained normal. A biopsy will resolve any concerns you have. You are a very intelligent 14 year old. That is evident through your own research because you know in your heart of hearts things are not quite right. So please take your concerns to your mother and doctor. Do not wait any longer. It could very well be nothing to worry about, but better to have the biopsy and give yourself peace of mind so that you can move on with the next step of your life by getting some real answers. Don't let yourself be intimidated by your age either. You are old enough to know when something is not right. Make them listen to you. Gather your information and or bring it up on your computer & Go speak with your mom right now  and let her know your concern and see the information you found and call your doctor.

God Protect & Comfort You Now & Always,

The others are right - have it checked out thoroughly.  They may surgically remove it for biopsy to get a really clear diagnosis.

The odds of it being lymphoma are very small.  I'm 31 and was diagnosed with indolent NHL this year, and at my age it's considered rare.  At 14 the odds are even longer.

Tell your parents and ask to go to a specialist.  It is a famous place for NHL to show up.  I hope it is nothing.  But it is easier to find out then wonder.  Good Luck and may God bless you.  Love, Kitty
