Hello friends.  As many of you know I have a father who has stage 4 cancer of the stomach (diagnosed Dec. 4, 2006) and is now rapidly deteriorating.  Today I just read an article that after many decades of saying that the appendix was a useless organ, it is now considered important to the normal flora of the gut.  I just wanted to see if there is a correlation with appendectomy (removal of the appendix) to future cases with gastric cancer.  Mind you my family has no history of cancer (my grandmother lived to be 102!) and now my poor daddy is 58 and it would be a miracle if he lived to see his 59th in January.  He had an appendectomy at a young age in a foreign country.  So my questions are:

1) Do you or someone you know who has gastric cancer ever had their appendix removed?  (It would be great if you could give ages, for example a person had their appendix removed at 19 and developed cancer (or detected it at 57).  Also, if it was removed, was it outside the United States?

2) Also, there seems to be a correlation between Blood Type A  and gastric cancer.  If you can provide a blood type that would be great as well.

I kindly thank all that respond and pray to GOD that He may ease anyone's pain and suffering.

Hi.  I too was reading on the net a few days ago that people with blood A type have higher chances of getting stomach cancer.  My mother 73 years old diagnosed Jan. 07 with stage IIIB is also type A blood.  Please have her in your prayers, because this thursday she's having a pet scan done because her CA 19-9 has gone up to 135 and we are praying and hoping that her cancer is not comming back.  I pray that your father starts feeling better soon and for a miracle to cure this ugly disease.

Hello sweetie, I pray to GOD that your mom will become better.  It is hard to see a loved one in any sort of pain.  Thank you for replying to my message.  However, do you know if your mom had her appendix removed?  Thank you kindly.

Hello,

My Mother (81) has non hodgkins lymphoma of the stomach and is A+ blood type.   I too have read that there is a correlation with stomach cancer and type A blood.   My Mother has never been ill before either and has never had her appendix removed?

I could have done without 2007 too.

I was diagnosed with stomach cancer 12-8-06. I have type A blood. My sister also has had stomach cancer and she is not type A. Neither of us has had our appendix out.

I am so sorry for your dad!!  It is a horrible disease. We tracked our cancer back to a great grandmother.

thank you Katrina for participating.  I see that your cancer is familial.  I am so sorry to hear of your disease and I pray that you will beat it.  It is a horrible disease; it does not fight fair.  We have done everything for him that we could but it is GOD's will to take him away from us.  I just pray it will be a peaceful passing.

Friend,

May God touch your dad. I also wanted to encourage you that Men may give up, doctors may give up BUT God never gives up on anyone.

We read in the bible (John 11) of a man called Lazarus, dead four days and according to the sister "stinking" BUT Jesus never gave up on Him.

Join me in prayer that, this same God will touch every cancer patient, heal them or grant them sufficient grace to make it through. Let us pray for all the doctors and nurses taking care of these dear ones. Let us pray for family members that God will comfort them and grant them peace.

Here is a list, if you can pray for one of these dear ones or all of them we will be very grateful - Prayer for Cancer Patients List from the site below.

God mightily bless you,

Chester
