I have just been put on Sutent and wonder if any other patients were blindsided by the price of this medication. My Dr. gave me the prescription and said my insurance should cover.it When I went to have it filled I was shocked when the  clerk         said the pills retail for almost 8000 dollars.  Medicare and my secondary insurance paid 4000  . My daughter called the Dept of Aging and we were told that we qualified for the New York State Epic Plan  so the pills only cost us 376 dollars this month and then would cost  55 dollars after that.  Has anyone received the pills for free from Pfizer.

No Pfizer will not cover this medicaton if you have other insurance. How ever there are alot of programs out there one we have used is NORD  National Organization for Rare Disease. You have to apply and meet other guidelines. However if you get help from EPIC  I am not sure if Nord still helps. Yes the cost of this medication is out of this world. However I look at at so far its done my father well and theres no amount of money that can replace the time we all have together.

God Bless and good luck with the sutent.
