Please PLease Please see a different Hematologist. The sooner you can get on top of this the better your prognosis. I too saw a hematologist in a large University Medical center. He told me that I was OK and had MGUS. My condition began to decline. I felt tired and not really myself. I had heard that the Mayo Clinic in Rochester treats more MGUS and Multiple Myeloma than any other center in the country. I now see a Hematologist, Dr. John Lust, and he told me that I had Multiple Myleoma and I had been missed diagnosed by my previous Dr. I have told that I have smoldering Myeloma and we began treatment to keep the cancer inactive. I feel good. I also feel like I am participating in my care and Dr. Lust always makes sure I understand what we are doing and why. Please seek another opinion. I could be your life you are talking about. Go to www.mayoclinic.org. there is good information there about stages of disease. It uses the levels you have and it will show you that you are beyond MGUS. Also what is the percentage of plasma cells in your bone marrow? This is very important too. The other website I would recommend is www.multiplemyeloma.org
Good luck and please let me know how things go.
