Subject: HDR Brachytherapy Radiation follow up questions
Date: 10/06/2007
I had Temporary HDR Brachytherapy (no seeds) in June '07. It has been almost four months now. I am not in pain and everthing appears to be functioning well but sensations of the radiation are still felt. There is a slight, what I call, burning sensation when urinating at the end of the penal area and the same in the rectal. There is a small watery discharge upon climax and does not feel the same as before the procedure. It doesn't feel that pleasurable. It is closer to a discomfort feeling. I didn't mean to get too graphic but I was wondering if the effects will improve over time. Will the radiation sensation gradually go away or is this the way it will be?

You more than likely have a chronic Prostatitis, Urethritis and Proctitiis.

All appear to be relatively mild.  A course of Steroids (intermediate term) and antibiotics (after rountine urinanalysis and culture.  You should be examinied by your Urologist as well.
